Craving for mamon? It’s hard to find a Filipino store in our area, and the international grocery store near me doesn’t have chiffon cake either, so I have no choice but to make some just to have food that I’m craving for lol.
So you don’t have to have a hard time looking for this, you can make it at home, very easy and very delicious. So let go ahead and start this recipe.
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 8 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup orange juice
- 1/3 cup water
- 8 egg whites
- 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
Direction:
- Preheat the oven to 325 Fahrenheit
- In a large bowl or in the mixing bowl, mix the flour, 1 cup granulated sugar, baking powder, salt.
- Make a crater in the middle, pour the egg yolks, oil, vanilla extract, orange juice, water. Mix it well.
- In a separate bowl beat the eggs until it’s foamy, put cream of tartar and gradually put the 1/2 cup sugar into it while mixing.
- Pour the batter into the foamy egg whites, mix them very well.
- Spray the mamon molding with oil or brush it with a melted butter. See the picture below.
7. Start pouring some mamon mixture into the mold at 3/4 full.
8. Bake it for 30 minutes.
9. Let it cool a lil before taking the off the molding.
